The Kentucky Museum is a historic art, culture, and art museum located at 1444 Kentucky Street, Bowling Green, Kentucky, on the campus of Western Kentucky University. It has an exhibition area of 8,000 square feet. Space. The museum’s collections include archaeology, art, clothing, textiles, furniture, glassware, ceramics, games, quilts, and toys. What’s Inside?
Permanent exhibitions include the Instruments of American Excellence (IAE) (opened in September 2012), The story of Duncan Hines, a look at the Civil War from a local view, and a gallery of decorative arts that ranges from an Egyptian skull to 1970s macrame and a gallery of quilts from the region. The changing galleries showcase a range of subjects, including group exhibitions, university-class-designed, and installed exhibits, and certain annual events, such as the open art exhibition. The 1815 Log House showcases building techniques, furniture, tools, and clothes from the 1810s era. Classes that are hands-on for children and adult education workshops, lectures, and celebrations are regularly offered at the Kentucky Museum.
